Armenia’s energy export rose 63% in Q1 2011 vs. last year

PanARMENIAN.Net - 3,721 billion kWt/h energy was generated for six months of 2011 in Armenia, which is by 516 million kWt/h more that in the same period of 2010.

“The growth of generated energy in the country equaled 16%,” Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Armenia Armen Movsisyan told a new conference on July 13 summing up results of the half year.

Armenia, for its internal use, consumed energy was 7,45% more against similar period of 2010. The export volume in the reported period totaled some 783 million kWt/h, which is more than the last year’s index by 303 million kWt/h (63% growth).

“It is noteworthy that increase of energy consumption by population amounted to 11%, by representatives of small and medium-sized enterprises totaled 18%, though expenses for power of irrigation and drinking water supply systems rose by 26%,” the Minister said.

In the mining industry, ore extraction increased by 4,9% in the reported period, as compared to in similar period of 2010. In particular, copper volume totaled 95%, molybdenum 105%, zinc 125%, gold volume increased two times.
