Region on the brink of war and peace

In the twentieth century wars were fought for energy resources, and in our case there can’t be excluded local collisions for pipe.

Region on the brink of war and peace
One cannot call the geographical location of Armenia and the geopolitical situation in it successful, if the situation in the region suddenly gets out of control and there starts a war “all against all”. An option very pessimistic, but possible if Syria is split and Assad “leaves”. Following the fall of Assad, they will take on Iran, and Armenia will be caught not even between two fires, but in the flow of refugees from everywhere.

Another visit of OSCE MG to region - Mission impracticable

Sooner or later Baku shall have to decide whether to recognize the NKR as a full participant in negotiations and an independent state or to launch a military adventure with an obvious outcome.

Another visit of OSCE MG to region - Mission impracticable
The forthcoming regular visit of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs to the region is already calling for comments and all kinds of assumptions about the object of the visit. However, this visit, as well as all previous ones, will not give any new results. It will only be intriguing if Baku once again speaks of the “inadmissibility of France to co-chair the Minsk Group”. But such a development is rather unlikely, since it is one thing to speak following in the footsteps of Turkish politics, and another - to report the French directly. All the more so when Baku understands the futility and ridiculousness of such proposals.

In 1828 Russia finally rooted in South Caucasus
184 years ago Turkmanchay peace treaty was signed between the Russian Empire and the Qajar (Persian) Empire, which was the logical culmination of the Russian-Persian war of 1826-1828. The treaty confirmed the territorial gains of Russia by the Treaty of Gulistan in 1813 and gave the Russian Empire control over the territory of Karabakh.

Paris shows world Turkey’s true face

Measuring others’ corn by her own bushel, Turkey does not even admit the thought that France, being faithful to democracy and freedom of speech, could not have voted down the bill.

Paris shows world Turkey’s true face
The incredible happened: French Senate passed the bill criminalizing denial of the Armenian Genocide. The bill passed with 127 votes for, 86 against, with the total number of voters being 213. The bill renders denial punishable with a year in jail and a fine of 45,000 euros. It shall come into force upon being signed by President Sarkozy, who is hardly probable to change his mind at the last moment.

France shows she is the cradle of democracy

Ankara, apparently, never understood anything and continues, with an incomprehensible obstinacy, to deny not only the fact of the Armenian Genocide, but also the right of each state to adopt the laws it finds necessary.

France shows she is the cradle of democracy
The other day the French National Assembly voted on the bill introduced by lawmaker Valerie Boyer on criminalizing denial of the Armenian Genocide. The bill levies a fine of 45,000 euros and involves a one year prison sentence for those who deny the Armenian Genocide. Thus, France did what is essential for a civilized state, declaring freedom, equality and human rights an imperative.
