Talks between Mashtots Park activists and police not over

PanARMENIAN.Net - The talks between the group ready to dismantle the boutiques and the police continue in Mashtots Park.

According to international law expert Andreas Ghukasyan, the activists protect Yerevan’s property.

“Capital construction has been carried out here, allowing privatization of public area. This is a direct violation of community rights. This is an illegal construction,” he said, adding that the police are not authorized to assess Yerevan Mayor’s activity.

“Let the state institution authorized to assess the decision by Yerevan Municipality send its representatives to negotiate with us,” Ghukasyan said.

Presently, a 10-member group stands ready to dismantle the stores. They announced their decision to stay in the park until all policemen leave to start dismantling works. The group is drawing up a plan for further steps that must be implemented within the law.
