DPA proposes democratic socialism model

PanARMENIAN.Net - Member of Democratic Party of Armenia (DPA) Aram Gyurjyan met with journalists on April 14.

“Our country must become a state assuming social responsibility,” he told a press conference.

Commenting on his party’s election program, Gyurjyan said: “Every official, starting from the President, must understand that they bear responsibility for the citizens.”

The politician said the system formed during the past 20 years has caused a sense of desperation among citizens who feel they are powerless “tiny people”.

“Key provision of our program is the change of the system so that everybody understands that Armenian citizens cannot be tiny people,” he stated. Gyurjyan further noted that they will apply the model of democratic socialism, the state’s involvement being one of its chief statements.

“30 per cent of our country’s population make their choice independently. We will actively work with them, and we hope to garner 10% of votes,” representative of the Democratic Party said.
