On May 21, Chicago hosted a meeting of heads of International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) member states, with Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian leading the Armenian delegation.
The meeting on situation in Afghanistan and international community’s activity brought together representatives from over 50 NATO and ISAF member-countries.
In his speech Minister Nalbandian reaffirmed Armenia’s commitment to continue efforts on establishment of security and national reconciliation in Afghanistan.
“Tangible progress is notable in ensuring security in Afghanistan. However, unfortunately, it is impossible to overcome the transition period smoothly. Destructive forces hamper establishment of peace, stability and security in the country,” he said.
Minister Nalbandian further stressed the need to ensure positive changes in Afghanistan to prevent the country from becoming a source of concerns for neighbors and other states.
