As a source close to the authorities told the daily, at least 5 main departments will be formed at the ministry. 4 of them will act as police structures, while the 5th is to be formed into a department of emergency situations, practically repeating the functions of the emergency situations ministry. “The decision to form a new ministry hasn’t been passed yet, but a struggle for ministerial post is in full swing. The main candidates for the post are: current Armenian Police Chief Vladimir Gasparyan, Emergency Situations Minister Armen Yeritsyan and Yerevan Police Department chief Nerses Nazaryan,” the daily said. ![]() ![]() As a result of floods in Armenia’s northern Lori and Tavush provinces, 17 bridges, including five large ones, have collapsed.
