Electoral frauds deprived Armenia from $2bn in EU aid, ANC rep. says

PanARMENIAN.Net - Electoral frauds at May 6 parliamentary polls discouraged the EU from organizing a donor conference for Armenia, which could bring the country $2 bn in donations, Armenian National Congress (ANC) opposition bloc coordinator, MP Levon Zurabyan said.

As he told a news conference in Yerevan, OSCE observer mission report qualified parliamentary elections in Armenia as running counter to the obligations the country assumed.

Also, he noted, EU vice-president and high representative for foreign affairs and security policy Catherine Ashton linked the results of polls with Karabakh issue.

“The authorities faked poll results at the expense of Nagorno Karabakh and Armenia’s development programs, and they’ll have to bear responsibility for it,” the stressed.

Zurabyan further dismissed the idea that the postponement of donor conference in Armenia might be linked to eurozone crisis.
