Armenian local election commission chairman and secretary posts distributed

PanARMENIAN.Net - Today, on August 8, the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) of Armenia distributed the posts of election commission chairmen and secretaries for September 9 local government elections.

According to CEC press service, the seats were distributed among the parties and blocs represented at the National Assembly.

The Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) received 376 seats, Prosperous Armenia – 264, Armenian National Congress (ANC) opposition bloc – 66, ARF Dashnaktsutyun (ARFD), Heritage and Orinats Yerkir – 47 seats each.

The two opposition blocs represented in the parliament - Yelk and Tsarukyan - voted against the government program.
Eduard Sharmazanov said Armenia is a parliamentary republic, and the people have elected the Republican Party.
"If the content has no fundamental changes and fails to present a realistic approach by sectors, we’ll be against it,” Vahe Enfiajyan said.
The ambassador hailed the activity of the Central Electoral Commission as efficient, but said there is still the problem of reliability.
