Rare 1st generation iPhone on sale on eBay for $10,000

PanARMENIAN.Net - A rare first generation iPhone has gone on sale on eBay for $10,000 (£6,400), Digital Spy said.

The handset comes unopened in its original packaging, and has been described as a "rare collector's vintage box" by user samsonbible.

The seller has decided not to offer buyers a chance to bid for the item, and has only provided a 'Buy It Now' option.

His item description reads: "Stunning rare collectors choice Apple iPhone 1st Generation 8GB and factory sealed!

"You are seeing a piece of history! This is an incredible collectors show piece! This would be a crown jewel for any collection! Amazing factory sealed box!

"Unopened and the collectors dream Apple iPhone!"

The first generation iPhone was launched by Steve Jobs on January 9, 2007, and went on sale six months later.

Despite only being just over five years old, the eBay user has stated that the unopened phone is already a rare and sought after item.

The item listing will remain on the site for 16 days or until someone chooses to buy it.

Apple's latest iPhone 5 is heavily rumoured to be launched some time in September.
