Aleppo’s Armenian-inhabited district under govt. forces’ control

PanARMENIAN.Net - Syria rebels-seized district, with Armenian National Prelacy located nearly, passed under the control of government forces today, Aug. 22.

Syrian rebels claimed Aug. 20 to be heading to Aleppo’s Azize, Jamilie, Midan districts, having asked the local Christian population to offer assistance to Free Syrian Army in their mission.

Aleppo’s several districts, including an Armenian one, was further reported to have been seized by the rebels.

The attack was rebuffed, with the rivals suffering heavy losses. Investigation is under way, the army’s press office said.
“The Kurdish people have historical-cultural similarities with the Armenians,” the Mayor of Artamed, Sevil Rojbin Cetin said.
Many have already fled to camps in Lebanon, Turkey or Jordan; the ancient Armenian community of Aleppo is moving to Yerevan.
