Paper: RPA favors condition its member set for Gyumri mayor race![]() August 25, 2012 - 11:06 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - According to Zhamanak paper, the parliamentary elections pointed to the need for the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) to adopt a new strategy in Armenian city of Gyumri. RPA member Vardan Ghukasyan has voiced readiness to withdraw candidacy from mayoral race only if Prosperous Armenia member Martun Grigoryan follows his suit. The condition set favors RPA’s interests firstly, in terms of making Prosperous Armenian leader Gagik Tsarukyan understand he is deprived of the right to take decisions even within his own party, and secondly in terms of staking off escalation of Vardan Ghukasyan- Martun Grigoryan conflict, the paper says. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
