Russian official: Karabakh conflict sides display tendencies to understanding

PanARMENIAN.Net - Tendencies to understanding between Nagorno Karabakh conflicting parties are notable, Chairman of the Federation Council of Russia Valentina Matviyenk said.

"It can be resolved only through political and democratic means. There is no other solution," Matviyenko noting restoration of confidence as the key point in negotiation process.

In this context, she stressed the need for more active involvement of intellectuals and cultural figures in the process.

Russia official further said that Russia's position on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict is well known.

"As members of the Minsk Group, both the current president of the country and his predecessor took every effort to foster the negotiation process. Russia will continue its efforts for a peaceful resolution of the conflict," Trend qouted Ms. Matviyenk as saying.
