Expert says Armenia must hold a balanced stance

Armenia shouldn’t expect the U.S. to increase presence in the issues related to Artsakh and Armenian-Turkish relations, head of Regional Studies Center (RSC) said.

Richard Giragosian voiced confidence for deepening of Armenian-American ties due to President Obama’s balanced stance on relations with Iran and Russia.

Dwelling on Armenian-Turkish normalization, the expert noted Ankara’s growing fears due to pro-Armenian congressmen’s election.

“With Armenian Genocide 100th anniversary approaching, greater pressure will be exerted on Ankara. Genocide commemoration events are gradually gaining common ground in Turkey,” he said, stressing the need for Armenia to uphold a balanced position and boost effectiveness.
