SHARJAH EMIR PAID TRIBUTE TO ARMENIAN GENOCIDE VICTIMS

PanARMENIAN.Net - Member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates, Sharjah Emir, sheik Sultan bin Mohammad Al Kasimi. Today the Emir paid tribute to Armenian Genocide victims. In a recording made in the Genocide Museum memory journal he underscored the importance of tolerance among peoples and noted he shared the sorrow of the Armenian people. The Sharjah Emir visited Yerevan State University, where he was awarded a golden medal. He also visited the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Armenia. In his welcoming speech NAS President Fadey Sargsyan noted that being previously Minister of Education and Science of the UAE, the Emir attached much importance to development of the country in the fields. «I consider that we can convey an impulse to our relations in the near future and implement joint programs,» Mr. Sargsyan said, when awarding the Sultan the title of NAS Honorary Doctor. Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies of NAS of Armenia Nikolay Hovhannisyan specially emphasized that future cooperation between scientific institutions of Armenia and UAE will be an outcome of Emir's visit. In his turn Sultan Kasimi noted that science has no homeland and it is for all. «We extend our hand to you, which means we wish to learn something from you and we are proud of it. We are ready to cooperation,» he said, reported the Yerkir newspaper.
