ANC to nominate own candidates for City Council elections

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian National Congress (ANC) opposition bloc will nominate own candidates for Yerevan City Council elections.

When asked be a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, ANC coordinator refused to name the nominees to be included in the ANC list.

Earlier, ANC, Prosperous Armenia, ARF Dashnaktsutyun and Heritage negotiated possible cooperation in City Council elections. The talks, however, were unsuccessful. Prosperous Armenia is also nominating own candidates, with ex-foreign minister Vartan Oskanian to top the list.

Current Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan and Emergency Situations Minister Armen Yeritsyan will top the lists of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) and Orinats Yerkir respectively.

The elections are due May 5.
