Guillermo del Toro's “Pacific Rim” sci-fi 1st TV spot unveiled

PanARMENIAN.Net - The first TV spot from Pacific Rim has been released, Digital Spy said.

Guillermo del Toro's sci-fi sees the Earth attacked by aliens that come from underneath the ocean, rather than from outer space.

Idris Elba is front and centre of the footage as Lieutenant-Commander Stacker Pentecost, the military officer who takes charge of the Earth's defence effort.

Charlie Hunnam's former pilot Raleigh Beckett is recruited alongside rookie officer Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi) to pilot one of several giant robots designed to fight the aliens.

Pacific Rim was co-written by del Toro and Travis Beacham (Clash of the Titans), and sees del Toro directing for the first time since 2008's Hellboy II: The Golden Army.

Charlie Day, Robert Kazinsky, Max Martini and Ron Perlman round out the supporting cast.
