Darchinyan gets final workout ahead of Gallo bout

PanARMENIAN.Net - Former world champion Vic Darchinyan (38-5-1, 27 KOs) and two-time Mexican Olympian, Oscar Valdez (4-0, 3 KOs) got a light, final workout at Dos Laredos Boxing Club in Laredo, Texas.

The two will face separate opponents Saturday, May 11 with Darchinyan in the main event against rugged slugger Javier Gallo (18-6-1, 10 KOs) scheduled for ten rounds, Fightnews said.

Darchinyan, a native of Armenia, has held seven world titles, IBF 112, 115, IBO 112 115, WBC 115, WBA 115 and IBO 118 championship belts. If he gets past Gallo, Darchinyan could land an August 3 title shot against WBC super bantamweight king Victor Terrazas in Mexico City on the undercard of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.’s comeback fight.
