Bird Flu: FAO Urged Turkey Adjacent Countries to Vigilance

PanARMENIAN.Net - Today the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) urged countries adjacent to Turkey - Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iraq, Iran and Syria, to exercise vigilance and take all measures to prevent spread of the bird flu. «The bird flu virus may cause an epidemic in Turkey,» the UN Food and Agriculture Organization warned. DPA German agency reported that 13 persons are infected with avian influenza in Turkey. Armenian officials say no cases of infection are registered in Armenia. Today Georgian MFA stated the border with Turkey will be closed in case of need.
