France commemorates Resistance hero Missak Manouchian

PanARMENIAN.Net - The National Association of Armenian Veterans and Resistance Movement Participants commemorated the 70th anniversary of the arrest of a French Resistance hero Missak Manouchian and Resistance leader Joseph Epstein in Evry-Petit-Bourg.

Junior Minister for Veterans at the French Ministry of Defence Kader Arif, Evry's Mayor and President of municipal community Francis Chouat, representatives of Armenian community and pubic organizations attended the event, according to Nouvelles d՝Arménie. Missak Manouchian (1 September 1906 – 21 February 1944) was a French-Armenian poet, a militant communist in the MOI (Main-d'œuvre immigrée or Immigrant Workforce Movement), and military commissioner of the FTP-MOI (Partisan irregulars of the MOI) in the Paris region. He was 37 years old when executed by the Nazis for his Resistance work.
