HP announces its first detachable PC![]() June 6, 2014 - 14:06 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - HP has announced its first detachable PC aimed at enterprise users, featuring a 12.5in touchscreen tablet that can be acquired separately or with a keyboard dock, with options including Intel vPro, Smartcard reader and a fingerprint reader, V3 reports. The HP Pro x2 612 is built from the ground up exclusively for enterprise users, according to the firm. It offers a choice of Intel Core i3 and Core i5 processors, the latter with vPro, and multiple purchase options offering full laptop replacement or travel needs for customers. This means, V3 says, that organizations can opt for a standalone tablet device, the HP Pro Tablet 612, or purchase the HP Pro x2 612 Power Keyboard with embedded second battery, which converts the device into a full laptop. Microsoft's Surface Pro line, the Pro x2 612 offers a choice of keyboards, while the Power Keyboard has VGA, RJ-45, DisplayPort, two USB 3.0 ports and side connector for a HP UltraSlim desktop dock, an optional ultra mobile keyboard has just a USB 3.0 port, combo audio jack and a power connector. Battery life is claimed as eight hours and 15 minutes for the tablet, and up to 14 hours and 15 minutes with tablet and keyboard module combined, HP said. The Pro x2 612 has a full high definition screen, Qualcomm Gobi 4G LTE modem, and dual high-definition webcams. Options include a Wacom digitiser pen, Smartcard reader and a fingerprint reader. A shipping date for the HP Pro x2 612 has not been disclosed, but HP said it is expected to cost €899 with Power Keyboard. HP also announced the HP Elite 700 series of laptops aimed at small to medium business (SMB) customers. This line is split into models based on AMD A-Series chips or Intel Core i3 and i5 processors, with three different screen sizes for each. On the AMD side, the HP EliteBook 725, 745 and 755 are 12.5in, 14in and 15.6in models, respectively, while the HP EliteBook 720, 740 and 750 make up the Intel-based versions. The laptops are expected to be available from September, with the AMD models priced from €749. HP also announced the HP EliteOne 700 All-in-One with a 23in screen and HP EliteDesk 700 PCs.
