AZERI JOURNALISTS DEMAND STOPPING PRESSURE ON MEDIA BY AUTHORITIESDecember 14, 2002 - 18:22 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Yesterday representatives of over 30 independent and oppositionist publications of Azerbaijan have arranged a protest action demanding to stop pressure on mass media by the authorities. As reported by "Novosti" Russian information agency, at the meeting, in which according to different estimates up to 150 persons participated, demands to stop illegal actions at law initiated against print by the state officials were voiced, as well as to cease impeding the spreading of newspapers and magazines. Besides, the holders of the meeting demanded increase of the credits for mass media and to hold an investigation of the fact of use of violence against journalists and breaking of their rights.
