Android 5.0 Lollipop will be released for Samsung Galaxy S5 handsets in December, it has been reported.
The operating system update could take around a month to reach users in all regions and on all networks, Digital Spy said citing SamMobile.
New features of Android Lollipop include a more fluid user interface with enhanced 3D effects, greater control over notifications, support for 64-bit hardware and increased battery life.
An additional feature dubbed 'Ambient display', which sees a device wake from sleep when it is picked up, was recently leaked by a developer.
The software will come preloaded on the Nexus 6 handset and Nexus 9 tablet next month, and is expected to roll out on other hardware shortly after.
Samsung is yet to officially confirm the December rollout date for Android Lollipop on Galaxy S5 devices.
