Karabakh serviceman dies in Azeri sabotage attempt (updated)

PanARMENIAN.Net - An infiltration attempt was taken by Azeri troops on the night of Jan 21 in the Karvachar direction of the line of contact between the Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijani armed forces.

The progress of the Azeri commando group was hampered by the NKR defence army's frontline divisions, with Karabakh serviceman Nahapet Asatryan, 33, killed in action and Hovhannes Gasparyan, 42, injured.

An investigation into the details of the incident is under way.

About 300 ceasefire violations by the Azeri side were reported at the line of contact between Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh) and Azerbaijani armed forces on the night of Jan 21.

Azerbaijan fired over 3000 shots from various caliber weapons including RPG-7, GP-25-type grenade launchers towards the positions of Karabakh defense army, which observed the ceasefire and retaliated only in case of necessity.
