Luke Evans to star as villain in Disney’s

PanARMENIAN.Net - Walt Disney Pictures may have found their Gaston in Luke Evans as the actor reportedly is in talks to take over the role in its upcoming film "Beauty and the Beast (2016)". The planned flick is a live-action retelling of the studio's 1991 animated blockbuster of the same name, AceShowbiz said.

In the original tale, Gaston was described as "the handsome antagonist who tried to win Belle's heart and, after losing it to the beast, led a group of townspeople on a hunt to kill the creature." Should a deal be reached, Evans will be joining Emma Watson and Dan Stevens who have been on board the cast, Variety reports. Watson is set to portray Belle, whereas Stevens is reportedly cast as the Beast.

Release date has not yet been set, but Disney is eyeing to start production on the feature later this year. Bill Condon is directing from a script written by Evan Spiliotopoulos and rewritten by Steve Chbosky. David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman of Mandeville Films are producing.
