Ukraine’s Naftogaz Chief Executive Andriy Kobolev said on Friday, April 10, he would seek progress on a deal to secure gas from Russia for the next 12 months during talks brokered by the European Union in Berlin on Monday, according to Reuters.
Ukraine last week signed an interim deal for cheaper supplies of gas from Russia for the next three months, providing a breathing space for both sides in their protracted wrangle over pricing..
But it is still hoping three-way talks, bringing together Russia and the European Commission can achieve a longer term deal to cover the coming winter.
"We would prefer it to be signed as soon as possible. We have a more or less stable situation for the next three months," Kobolev told a news conference after an initial comment that he saw a deal signed on Monday.
