First U.S. ambassador to Armenia Harry Gilmore dies at 77![]() April 29, 2015 - 13:48 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Harry J. Gilmore, the first U.S. ambassador to Armenia, passed away last week at the age of 77, the U.S. embassy said. Ambassador Gilmore served in Armenia from May 1993 to July 1995. In his 35 years in the U.S. Foreign Service, the ambassador also served in Berlin, Belgrade, Munich, Budapest, Moscow and Ankara, and held several senior positions in Washington, D.C. Ambassador Gilmore’s funeral will be held on May 9 in Arlington, Virginia. ![]() ![]() The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov, have arrived in Washington. The CSTO budget for the current year requires adjustments due to the refusal of Yerevan to pay their share of contributions. Six total incidents have burned 19 old-growth trees.
