Armenia’s fishery production grows by 29.6 % in first half of 2015

According to the National Statistical Service, Armenia's fishery production volume amounted to AMD 14.3 billion in the first half of 2015, which is by 29.6 % more compared to the same period in 2014.

President of the union of fish farmers and exporters, Artur Atoyan, said Armenia has damaged fishery domestic market, while local producers have become uncompetitive in foreign markets.

“People with loan commitments sell the product at AMD 120-150 below cost price, and we are uncompetitive in foreign markets,” Atoyan said.

According to him, fish farmers are unable to overcome the problems due to lack of cooperation with state institutions. “Authorities should always make sure that certain agencies to fulfill their obligations,” he noted.
