A24, DirecTV acquire Emma Roberts horror film “February”

PanARMENIAN.Net - A24 and DirecTV have acquired the rights to the horror film “February” starring Emma Roberts, TheWrap said citing an individual with knowledge of the project.

The film, which will hit theaters in 2016, is the directorial debut for writer and director Oz Perkins, the son of late “Psycho” star Anthony Perkins who has previously acted in movies like “Legally Blonde” and “Psycho II.”

“February” takes place at an all-girls boarding school where Kat (Kiernan Shipka) and Rose (Lucy Boynton) are stranded during spring break. Roberts plays a haunted woman — as she gets closer and closer to the school, Kat becomes more and more possessed by an unknown force.

Lauren Holly, James Remar, Peter J. Gray and Emma Holzer also star in the film, which had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 12.

The film was produced by Unbroken Pictures, Zed Filmworks and Go Insane Pictures. Carissa Buffel, Arianne Fraser and Kevin Matusow executive produced.

A24 picked up the worldwide distribution rights to Noah Baumbach and Jake Paltrow‘s documentary “De Palma” in advance of its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival at the beginning of September.
