THOUSANDS HELD OPPOSITION MEETING IN BAKU DEMANDING HEYDAR ALIYEV'S RETIREMENT

PanARMENIAN.Net - An opposition meeting with participation of thousands of people demanding retirement of Azeri President Heydar Aliyev was held in Baku last Sunday. As reported by Azeri mass media, the demonstrators also demanded "creation of democratic conditions for holding just and honest elections in the country, as well as solving the Nagorno Karabakh conflict." Addressing the meeting, the leaders of the opposition parties harshly criticized the authorities' domestic policy, "which had brought the country to a catastrophe and civil confrontation." Criticism also addressed concerned the fruitless activities of the Azeri leadership in settling the Karabakh conflict.
