YouTube rolls out new iOS app with built-in editing toolsOctober 7, 2015 - 23:25 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - YouTube has just rolled out a new version of its app for iOS devices and it comes with a much-requested feature - editing tools, according to Digital Spy. Google isn't exactly targeting Christopher Nolan with this update - the toolset is basic, limited to cropping, filters and the option to overlay a soundtrack. That said, the editing tools are simple yet effective, and they aren't the only new feature included in the update. YouTube's iOS app now sports Google's signature Material Design, with an improved layout and swifter navigation. Favourite channels, recommendations and subscriptions can now be accessed via a swipe or a single press of an icon, and the process of uploading a video has been streamlined. However, not all YouTubers are pleased with the update, with the new app attracting a host of negative reviews on the App Store. Opponents of the change have criticised Google for failing to take advantage of iOS 9 features including picture-in-picture viewing, plus SlideOver and Split View. Others have slammed the new layout, lamenting the removal of the left sidebar and blasting the red header that dominates the top of the screen. Version 10.38 of the YouTube iOS app is available as a free download from the App Store. Top stories Yerevan will host the 2024 edition of the World Congress On Information Technology (WCIT).
