During a working visit to Georgia, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan held a series of meetings with the country’s leadership to discuss the regional agenda and economic cooperation among other issues.
At a meeting with Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili, the two leaders discussed the agenda of Armenian-Georgian relations, outlined new prospects for promoting bilateral ties, dwelled upon the ongoing projects aimed at the development of cooperation in political, economic, humanitarian and other sectors.
As Sargsyan stressed, Armenia's accession to the Eurasian Economic Union and Georgia's signing of the Association Agreement with the EU will have no negative impact on the economic relations between the two countries.
“I am pleased to say that the trade turnover between Armenia and Georgia has increased in 2014, and the same trend is observed in the first nine months of 2015,” the Armenian President noted.
Sargsyan also met with Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili. The parties expressed confidence that the countries’ historic past creates serious preconditions for renewed partnership.
At a meeting between the Armenian leader and Georgia’s Parliament Speaker David Usupashvili stressed the importance of promoting collaboration in political, economic, humanitarian spheres.
