Adele beats Coldplay for top spot on Billboard 200

Adele continues her domination on Billboard 200. Her comeback effort "25" tops the list for the third time in a row and easily outsells fellow British act Coldplay's new record "A Head Full of Dreams", which makes its debut at No. 2.

As AceShowbiz reports citing Nielsen Music, "25" sells 728,000 equivalent units for a total of 5.19 million copies. With another 695,000 in pure album sales, it becomes the first album in Nielsen's history to sell more than 650,000 copies in each of its first three weeks. The project will likely surpass the 6 million mark before 2015 ends.

Meanwhile, Coldplay collects their fifth top 2 album as "A Head Full of Dreams" arrives with 210,000 units, 195,000 of which were in pure album sales. Last year, the record's predecessor "Ghost Stories" landed at No. 1 with 383,000.

Justin Bieber's "Purpose" follows behind at No. 3 with 151,000 in its fourth week. Also falling one rung, Pentatonix's "That's Christmas to Me" bows at No. 4 with 139,000. Closing out the top 5 is G-Eazy's "When It's Dark Out" which debuts with 132,000. This is the rapper's second time to visit the chart's top 5. He previously did so with 2014's "These Things Happen" that started at No. 3 with 46,000.

Rick Ross' ninth straight major label album "Black Market" and Troye Sivan's debut full-length "Blue Neighbourhood" are the next and last newcomers on this week's list. They come at No. 6 and No. 7 respectively with 65,000 units.

One Direction's "Made in the A.M." sits at No. 8, falling from last week's No. 4 with another 60,00 units. Chris Stapleton's "Traveller" returns to the top 10, rising two rungs to No. 9 with 51,000 while The Weeknd's "Beauty Behind the Madness" claims the No. 10 spot of the week with 49,000.
