"Mad Max: Fury Road" leading Critics' Choice Awards movie noms

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Broadcast Film Critics Association and Broadcast Television Journalists Association have revealed the list of nominees for the 2016 Critics' Choice Awards, AceShowbiz reports. "Mad Max: Fury Road" leads the pack with 13 nominations in movie category. The action adventure movie comes up in several categories including Best Picture, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Film Editing and Best Production Design.

The Weinstein Company's "Carol" and 20th Century Fox's two movies, "The Martian" and "The Revenant", nab nine nods apiece. They are also listed in Best Picture category, joining the "Mad Max" sequel and other spectacular movies like "Bridge of Spies" and "Sicario".

Bryan Cranston ("Trumbo") is competing against Matt Damon ("The Martian"), Johnny Depp ("Black Mass"), Leonardo DiCaprio ("The Revenant"), Michael Fassbender ("Steve Jobs) and Eddie Redmayne ("The Danish Girl") in the Best Actor category.

Meanwhile, Cate Blanchett ("Carol"), Brie Larson ("Room"), Jennifer Lawrence ("Joy"), Charlotte Rampling ("45 Years"), Saoirse Ronan ("Brooklyn") and Charlize Theron ("Mad Max: Fury Road") are vying for Best Actress.

All winners, including those in TV category, will be announced during the ceremony, which will be held on January 17. The awards show will be hosted by T.J. Miller and will take place at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica.
