Armenian wrestler qualifies for Olympics at Serbia-hosted tournament

PanARMENIAN.Net - The European Olympic Qualifier will soon be drawing to a close in Zrenjanin, Serbia.

Freestyle wrestler Edgar Yenokyan (97kg) and Greco-Roman wrestler Edgar Khachatryan (130 kg) competed Sunday, April 17, both of them, however,abandoning the battle having losing their first matches.

Only one Armenian athlete, freestyle wrestler Garnik Mnatsakanyan (57 kg) has qualified for the Olympics, while Davit Safaryan and Karapet Chalyan won a bronze medal each.

Also representing Armenia at the Rio 2016 Olympics are wrestlers Levan Berianidze (125 kg), Artur Aleksanyan (98 kg) and Mihran Harutyunyan (66 kg).
