Sargsyan and his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev discussed the situation in Karabakh at a meeting in Austria's capital on May 16, mediated by the foreign policy chiefs of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairing countries. Speaking to Medvedev in Yerevan, Sargsyan said he hoped to further discuss issues of bilateral relations, as well as the situation in Karabakh with the Russian premier. Medvedev who has arrived in Armenia to participate in the summit of heads of government of Eurasian Economic Union member states, said that Russia “paid close attention to the development of events and helped settle the situation as much as we could.” “We, of course, welcome the Vienna meeting,” Medvedev said. “It is important to ensure the implementation of all the agreements reached in Austria.
