About 100 families moved to Armenia from Syria in 2016

PanARMENIAN.Net - During the nearly 10 months of 2016, 428 Syrian-Armenians (or about 100 families) have moved to Armenia, head of the Coordination Center for Syrian-Armenians Lena Halajyan said, according to Novosti Armenia.

“Several families arrived here in summer for various reasons and returned to Syria,” Halajyan told reporters Thursday, October 13.

According to her, the attacks have destroyed not all of Aleppo, some areas of the city haven’t been damaged at all.

She also noted that the Armenian community is one of the least affected in Aleppo.

Deputy Minister of Diaspora Serzh Srapionyan said, in turn, that according to official figures of the Syrian authorities about 8,000-10,000 Armenians reside in Aleppo at the moment.

"On October 17, we are expecting three families of 21 Syrian-Armenians. Two days ago, a family of four arrived in the country. Our staff is now on duty at the airport to find out whether there are Syrian-Armenians among the passengers of various flights. We meet and provide them with temporary housing,” Srapionyan said.
