Metro AG looks to cooperate with, open office in Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Metro AG, a retail and wholesale/cash and carry group based in Düsseldorf, is interested in cooperating with Armenia, a company vice president said Monday, October 24, as he met with Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan in Yerevan.

At a meeting with vice president in charge of external corporate policy, head of the Moscow representative office Alexei Grigoryev, the PM stressed the need for a further development of cooperation between Metro AG and Armenia's export-oriented enterprises.

Karapetyan said he hopes the company will be able to find reliable partners for a long-term cooperation in the country. Also, he said, there are opportunities for exporting Armenian agricultural and processed produce to Eurasian and other markets alike.

Grigoryev said, in turn, that his company is willing to develop relations with Armenia, citing "good opportunities for cooperation."

Also, the parties discussed a range of issues of mutual interest, including the establishment of a Metro AG field office in Armenia.
