Martin Short to be honored at Oscar Wilde Awards

PanARMENIAN.Net - Martin Short will be honored at this year's Oscar Wilde Awards.

The SNL grad will be vetted at the U.S.-Ireland Alliance's annual event, along with fellow honorees Irish singer-songwriter Glen Hansard and Outlander star Caitriona Balfe, The Hollywood Reporter said.

The Oscar Wilde Awards are meant to recognize the contributions of the Irish in film and on television. Force Awakens star Daisy Ridley was honored at last year's ceremony.

Short, whose father was from Northern Ireland, grew to fame as one of the performers on Canada's SCTV, making the late-night transition state side, joining the cast of Saturday Night Live. His feature film credits include Three Amigos and Father of the Bride.

Short was recently in P.T. Anderson's Inherent Vice and just appeared as Wilbur Turnblad in NBC's Hairspray Live.

The Oscar Wilde Awards will take place on Feb. 23 at J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot in Santa Monica.
