Karabakh’s former top commander arrested on suspicion of smuggling

PanARMENIAN.Net - The court of law of Yerevan’s Kentron and Nork Marash administrative districts granted the application for a 2-month arrest of former military commander of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic Samvel Babayan on suspicion of smuggling a surface-to-air shoulder-fired Igla missile system into the country.

As Babayan’s lawyer Avetis Kalashyan noted on March 24, the court decision will be appealed against.

Asked about specific charges brought against Babayan, the lawyer pledged to provide full information on March 25. He also slammed the accusation against Babayan as unfounded, Panorama.am reports.
