Russian envoy provides details on Karabakh talks in Stepanakert

PanARMENIAN.Net - Russian co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group Igor Popov said on Tuesday, March 28 an agreement has been reached to increase the OSCE monitoring group by seven experts.

“We discussed the expansion of the group of Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk,” Popov told reporters after a meeting with Nagorno Karabakh president Bako Sahakyan in Stepanakert.

“We have a number of issues of technical character to agree upon."

“We’ll further discuss proposals Kasprzyk unveiled today in April, I hope," Artsakhpress cited Popov as saying.

After discussing the issue with all the sides, the Russian envoy said the co-chairs aim to continue talks in Vienna, looking to also meet the OSCE leadership and the high-level planning group.

The OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs - Popov, Stephane Visconti of France and Richard Hoagland of the United States - as well as Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk met Karabakh president Bako Sahakyan on Tuesday to discuss the settlement process.

On Monday, the co-chairs met with Armenian foreign minister Edward Nalbandian and president Serzh Sargsyan in Yerevan.

Also Tuesday, French co-chair Stephane Visconti said Paris is ready to organize a meeting of Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents if an agreement is reached.
