Ter-Petrosyan not under house arrestMarch 1, 2008 - 20:18 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Ex-President Levon Ter-Petrosyan is not under house arrest, RA Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian told a news conference in Yerevan."Security of an official is regulated by the Constitution. If safety of an official either in commission or retired is jeopardized, he is protected by the presidential guard. By this very reason, Levon Ter-Petrosyan was driven away from Liberty Square. Presently, he is free to leave his apartments but before he should renounce the guard supposed by the law. He refused to do that," the Minister said. "The only wish of President Robert Kocharian is to transform the situation into a political process. The main cause of tensions is Ter-Petrosyan's refusal to cooperate. But the authorities do not intend to tolerate uncontrolled human mass. Eventually, those who gathered to support Ter-Petrosyan are our people who are discontent with the outcomes of the election. But, there political tools which should be used," Vartan Oskanian said.
