IMPORT FROM EU COUNTRIES TO ARMENIA INCREASED

PanARMENIAN.Net - The volume of import from EU countries to Armenia made 35 million US dollars in July 2002 against 29 million in July 2001. The Customs Committee of the Republic of Armenia reported it to "Arka" agency. Let us note that the trend of increase of the import volume has been observed since the beginning of this year. According to the information possessed by the customs officials, within the first half year of 2002 commodities for the sum of 361 million US dollars were imported to Armenia, 150 out of which fell to the share of the European Union countries. At the same time, in 2001 the given indicator made 141 million dollars. Meanwhile, the Republic of Armenia Central Bank head Tigran Sargsian had stated earlier that the devaluation of the dollar in relation to euro could lead to rise in price of import and export between Armenia and the European countries, which would result in reducing import.
