CSTO and EurAsEC attach special importance to military and economic collaborationFebruary 26, 2009 - 18:11 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Foreign Ministers' Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization headed by RA plenipotentiary representative Rafik Ananyan opened its regular sitting on Feb.26 in Moscow . CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha attended the sitting.The plenipotentiaries completed discussions on main collaboration guidelines of Collective Rapid Response (Deployment) Force and Eurasian Economic Community, aimed at countering military aggression, international terrorism, extremism, crime, drug-traffick and dealing with emergency situations. CSTO and EurAsEC intend to establish collaboration in the sphere of energy security, including hydro technical constructions and other strategically important objects, transportation systems and airspace protection, prevention and liquidation of aftermaths of man-caused disasters and natural calamities. CSTO and EurAsEC will join efforts in the training of law enforcement staff, frontier and customs services, establishment of departments and authorities to deal with emergency situations. Special emphasis will be laid on the discussion of military and economic collaboration of Member states, interparliamentary collaboration, coordination of activities in assisting post conflict Afghanistan. Draft project of main collaboration guidelines of Collective Rapid Response Forces and EurAsEC will be considered at the joint meeting of CSTO Secretariat and EurAsEC Integration Committee.
