Turkish opposition MHP member Canan Aritman will have to pay a 1-lira fine for dissemination of rumors about Armenian descent of President Abdullah Gul's mother.

According to the court's ruling, those who attempt to discredit a state figure by spreading false information will be henceforth fined with 1 lira.
