Truck weighing scales to be installed on main roads in Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Vehicle weighing scales will be installed on the main roads of Armenia to ensure trucks are not overloaded, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan told reporters on Wednesday, November 10, summing up the results of his first 100 days in office.

Sanosyan reminded that overloading increases the wear and tear on roads and interferes with large-scale road repairs.

The authorities intend to establish such systems at border checkpoints, except these will determine the weight of the car on the move, so that the driver doesn't have to stop and delay traffic. The mechanisms will apply to both foreign and local vehicles, Sanosyan said.

In addition, mileage tracking software for foreign cars will also be introduced, which will make it possible to more accurately calculate road taxes.
