Tatoyan raises issues related to Kazakhstan's Armenians

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan discussed issues related to the rights of the Armenian community amid unrest in Kazakhstan with the Commissioner for Human Rights of Kazakhstan Elvira Azimova.

Tatoyan and Azimova have been in touch over the past several days too.

On Monday, January 10, the Armenian Ombudsman said that issues related to the Armenians of Kazakhstan continue to be in the center of his attention and offered help to his Kazakh counterpart if need be.

Demonstrations in Kazakhstan started in early January when a protest against a fuel price rise began. They developed into a wider protest against Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's government and the influence of the former president, 81-year-old Nursultan Nazarbayev.
