Moscow believes the West will try to isolate Russia through allies too, including in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), of which Armenia is a member, Russian ambassador to Yerevan Sergei Kopyrkin told a conference on Wednesday, April 6.
"We expect that the commonality of our interests, our economic interconnection will dictate the understanding that we need to stay together, develop together," Kopyrkin said.
"Based on the current situation, I think that by joint efforts we will be able to overcome everything and even get stronger. I am sure that necessary solutions will be found."
The envoy said sanctions imposed on Russia in the wake of its invasion of Ukraine are "unprecedented in scope".
"But this situation should encourage us to accelerate the integration within a large Eurasian partnership," the Russian ambassador stressed.
