Top Armenian, Russian diplomats discuss Karabakh humanitarian crisis

PanARMENIAN.Net - Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov discussed the deteriorating humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh on Friday, February 10.

According to a statement from the Armenian side, Mirzoyan emphasized the need for the immediate unblocking of the Lachin corridor by Azerbaijan

The imperative of implementing and unconditionally observing the provisions of the Trilateral Statement was stressed.

Mirzoyan and Lavrov exchanged views on the normalization process of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, as well as the Armenia-Russia bilateral agenda.

Since December 12, the sole road connecting Nagorno Karabakh to Armenia - the Lachin Corridor - has been blocked by self-described Azerbaijani environmentalists. Karabakh residents have reported food and fuel shortages, while hospital patients don't have access to essential medicines, with only a handful allowed transfer to facilities in Armenia proper.
