U.S. demanded Turkey stop helping Baku as precondition for F-16 sale, says Ankara

PanARMENIAN.Net - Spokesman for Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) Omer Celik has said that the United States demanded that Ankara stop supporting Baku in its aggression against Nagorno-Karabakh as a precondition for sending F-16s to Turkey, Azerbaijani media report.

Celik made the remarks at a press conference on Monday, November 27, adding that Turkey wants the ongoing discussions between Azerbaijan and Armenia to lead to a peace agreement.

If Armenia ceases its “destructive steps”, he said, the 3+3 cooperation format – that involved Armenia, Azerbaijan, Russia, Turkey, Iran and, possibly Georgia – will make a “great contribution to peace in the region".
