Armenian soldier killed by Azeri sniper; EU says “worried”

PanARMENIAN.Net - An Armenian soldier was shot dead by Azerbaijan on Monday, December 4 in what the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus, Toivo Klaar, described as “worrying report of shootings”.

Armenia’s Defense Ministry identified the soldier as Gerasim Arakelyan. He was killed in sniper fire at an Armenian army post near the village of Bardzruni.

“The European Union is constantly engaged with Baku and Yerevan,” Klaar said.

“It is essential that calm prevails on the ground and decisive progress is achieved at the negotiating table.”
